Rules for horse ploughing are as follows:
1. To all ploughmen who shall best plough 0.25 acre of land not less than 5in. deep with a pair of horses and no driver, within 4.5 hours. 2. Each ploughman will be allowed the use of two wads only, with assistance to set them and pick them up. Competitors may have the assistance of a leader until four top rounds completed. No other assistance will be allowed during the match. He must set one ridge, show four top rounds and finish one furrow. 3. Ploughmen to be at the ploughfield at 8.30 am to draw tickets and start ploughing at 9.00 am sharp, finish four top rounds by 10.00 am, complete work by 1.00 pm. 4. In the event of any dispute the matter will be referred to the Objections Committee and their decision shall be final, the objector shall deposit £10 with the stewards which shall be forwarded to the funds in case the objection shall be held to be frivolous. 5. Any adjustment made by, or at the suggestion of, any person other than the competitor during the course of the competition will result in immediate disqualification.
CLASS 21 (Open to all England) To the man who shall plough 0.25 acre of land not less than 5in. deep in the best manner in the specified time, with a single-furrow high-cut plough of any description. Prizes1st Prize £25 2nd Prize £15 3rd Prize £10 Entry Free

Note: £100 will be awarded to each competitor in Classes 21 & 22 who completes his/her plot to the satisfaction of the Stewards.
Trophies and prizes to be presented on completion of judging.
- PLOUGH TEAMS -
CLASS 26 (OPEN): For the pair of Horses competing in the match and completing the plot which appears to have had the best care and attention. Cleanliness and freedom from scars will be considered.
