Ridden Horse Classes

Class 96: Open Coloured Horse: Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 148cms (14.2 hh)

Class 97  : Open Riding Horse:  Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 148cms (14.2 hh)

Class 98: Open Ridden Cob: Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 148cms (14.2 hh), but not exceeding 155cms (15.1 hh)  

Class 99: Novice Hunter: Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 148cms (14.2 hh), not having won a first prize of £50 or a total of £200 (or equivalent values) in prize money in any Ridden Hunter Classes at home or abroad,    before 1st January in the current year.     

Class 100: Open Hunter: Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 148cms   (14.2 hh)

 

Ridden Cleveland Bay Horse Class

Class S102: Ridden Horse Championship: 1st and 2nd prize winners from Classes 96 to 101 to compete      for the K L BEEBY & R M DONGER TROPHY. This trophy is named after Mr K L Beeby    & Mr R M Donger in recognition of their 50 years service on the Show Committee.

 

Best Shod Horse Awards

 

Judge: Mr S W Spence, Leicestershire

Judging: during Classes 96 to 101                               

 

                  Class S103: Best Shod Horse Awards: A competition Sponsored by the Worshipful                                         Company of Farriers, for the Best Shod Horse in the Ridden Horse Section,                          Classes 96 to 101. The Judge will examine each horse before or during the line-up                             for preliminary judging, taking into consideration:

 

                                           a)  The condition of the feet

                                           b)  The making (or preparation) and fitting of the shoes

                                           c)  The nailing and position of clips

 

                 

Normal shoes and showing plates are equally acceptable, provided they are suitable for the horse.

 

                  The Worshipful Company of Farriers will award:

 

A Rosette and an Inscribed Card to the winner in each Class

A Plaque to the overall winner

A Plaque for the Registered Farrier responsible for its feet and shoeing

 

Working Hunter Classes

Class 104: Open Working Riding Horse or Cob: Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 148cms (14.2 hh), but not exceeding 155cms (15.1 hh) for Cobs. Minimum height 76cms, (2’6”), maximum height 85cms, (2’9”), maximum spread   85cms, (2’9”).

 

Class 105: Novice Working Hunter: Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 148cms (14.2 hh), not to have won a total of £200 (or equivalent values) in prize money in any Working Hunter Class, or more than 25 BE points or £200 BSJA Show-jumping, at home or equivalent abroad before 1st January in the relevant year.   To be shown in any suitable bridle.   Minimum height 76cms, (2’6”), maximum height 92cms, (3’0”), maximum spread 92cms, (3’0”).

 

Class 106:Open Working Hunter: Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 148cms. (14.2 hh).   Grade A Show-jumpers and Advanced Event horses are not eligible to compete in this Class.   Any horse which has qualified as a Grade A Show Jumper or Advanced Event Horse as at 1st January in the current year is not eligible to compete in Working Hunter Classes.   Minimum height 92cms, (3.0”), maximum height 107cms, (3’6”), maximum spread 114cms, (3’9”).

 

Class S107: Working Hunter Championship: 1st and 2nd prize winners from Classes 104 to 106 to compete for The CHARLES BRIGHT TROPHY, kindly donated by Consultancy Europe Associated Ltd in memory of Charles Bright.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Working Hunter Rules

 

1. Exhibitors may walk the course dismounted before their class.

2. A rider can ride up to two horses in the Jumping Phase, but then must select only one horse to take forward into the Ride and Conformation Phase.

3. Horses may be equipped with boots of a plain colour in the Jumping Phase only.  At no other time can a change of saddlery be permitted.

4. Any horse taking the wrong course or jumping another fence after completing the course will be eliminated.

5. If a horse turns its quarters to a fence or has a complete turn round, or crosses its tracks on approach to the next fence a refusal will be given.

6. The fall of horse and or rider anywhere on the course will result in elimination.   The rider may not attempt another fence, but must leave the ring immediately on foot.

7. Horses displaying continued disobedience, or horses leaving the ring whether mounted or dismounted will be eliminated.

8. In the event of equality of marks, the total mark for Phase One will take precedence, followed by the Manners Mark and then the Conformation Mark.   If there is still a tie, then the Judge’s decision is final.

Phase 1 - Jumping phase:   40% actual jumping      20% style & Presence whilst jumping

N.B.   Prizes may be adjusted at the discretion of the Secretary if there are less than six entries in the class.   All prize money must be collected on the day ~ monies not collected will be deemed to be a donation to the Show.

 

Rosettes to 6th place; Champion and Reserve Champion Sashes in all Championships.

 

The Cleveland Bay Horse Society offers a special rosette to the highest place pure or part bred Cleveland Bay in the Novice Hunter, Open Hunter, Novice Working Hunter and Open Working Hunter classes.

 

The Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) will award Special Rosettes to the highest placed Pure or Part Bred Irish Draught Exhibit in the Open Ridden Cob, Novice Hunter, Open Hunter, Novice Working Hunter and Open Working Hunter classes.  

All Exhibits must be registered or identified with the IDHS (GB) on either their Pure Bred or ID Sport Horse Registers.  

Registration/Identification numbers to be stated on the entry form.

 

Should weather conditions leading up to the Show be excessively dry, irrigation will be used to ensure a good riding surface, and sand laid for the WH jumps if the ground is hard.

 Points will be allocated to 1st to 6th Prize Winners with 1st ~ 10 points, 2nd ~ 8 points,  
3rd ~ 6 points, 4th ~ 4 points, 5th ~ 3 points and 6th ~ 2 points.

 Points will be accumulated by horse rather than owner.

 The Winner of the Three Shows Challenge 2008 will receive £100, Sash and Rosette.
The Reserve will receive £50, Sash and Rosette. 
Presentation will take place at the Southwell Ploughing Match & Show.
