Affiliations:

 

This Show is affiliated to The British Driving Society, and is a Qualifier for the 2010 Osborne Refrigerators BDS National Championships.

 

The Cleveland Bay Horse Society offers a special rosette to the highest place pure or part bred Cleveland Bay in the Novice Hunter, Open Hunter, Novice Working Hunter and Open Working Hunter classes.

 

The Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) will award Special Rosettes to the highest placed Pure or Part Bred Irish Draught Exhibit in the Open Ridden Cob, Novice Hunter, Open Hunter, Novice Working Hunter and Open Working Hunter classes.   All Exhibits must be registered or identified with the Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) on either their IDHS (GB) or IDSH Registers.   Registration/Identification numbers to be stated on the entry form.

Class 97: Open Riding Horse   Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 148cms (14.2hh)

 

Class 98: Open Ridden Cob   Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 148cms  (14.2hh),

but not exceeding 155cms (15.1hh)  

 

Class 99: Novice Hunter   Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 148cms (14.2hh),

not having won a first prize of £50 or a total of £200 (or equivalent values) in prize money in any

Ridden Hunter Classes at home or abroad, before 1st January in the current year.  

 

Class 100: Open Hunter   Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 148cms   (14.2hh)

Class 101: Pure or Part Bred Cleveland Bay Horse: Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over exceeding                     148cms (14.2hh); To be split if sufficient entries.

 

Shaw and Co Solicitors, Specialist Equine Lawyers, have presented a prize of £50

for the Best Turned Out  Exhibit in Class 101.

 

Class S102: Ridden Horse Championship: 1st and 2nd prize winners from Classes 96 to 101 to compete for The K L BEEBY & R M DONGER TROPHY. This trophy is named after Mr K.L.Beeby & Mr R.M.Donger in recognition of their 50 years service on the Show Committee.

 

Best Shod Horse Awards

 

Judging: during Classes 96 to 101                                    

Judge: Mr S W Spence, Leicestershire

 

Class S103:      Best Shod Horse Awards: A competition sponsored by the Worshipful  Company of Farriers, for the Best Shod Horse in the Ridden Horse Section, Classes 97 to 101. The Judge will examine each horse before or during the line-up for preliminary judging, taking into consideration:

 

                                a)  The condition of the feet

                                b)  The making (or preparation) and fitting of the shoes

                                c)  The nailing and position of clips

 

Normal shoes and showing plates are equally acceptable, provided they are suitable for the horse.

 

The Worshipful Company of Farriers will award:

 

                                            *  Rosette and an Inscribed Card to the winner in each Class

                                           *  Plaque to the overall winner

                                            * Plaque for the Registered Farrier responsible for its feet and shoeing         

 

 

 

Driving Classes

 

Judging: to follow on after Class S103

Judges: Mr J Baggaley & Mrs Jill Rose, Nottinghamshire

 

Class 104: Private/Pleasure Driving   for horses and ponies any height, 4 years old or over, to be driven single, pair or tandem to a suitable vehicle, (commercial vehicles and hackney show wagons not permitted). This Class No.104 is a qualifier for the 2010 Osborne Refrigerators BDS National Championships. The highest placed turnout owned and driven by a member of the British Driving Society and eligible for the following Type-Sections disregarding those already qualified down to 6th place in the class will qualify for the 2010 Semi-Finals. The Championship will immediately follow the Semi-Finals.  

 

Type-Sections: a Single hackney-type   f Single purebred Registered Welsh Ponies - Section C

                                g Single purebred Registered Welsh Ponies - Sections A & B

 

Class 105: Concours d’Elegance for the turnout which presents the most pleasing picture. To be judged from a distance, and there will be no individual displays.

Working Hunter Classes

 

Judging: to commence not before 2.00pm.

Class 106  Open Working Riding Horse or Cob   Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 148cms (14.2hh), but not exceeding 155cms (15.1hh) for Cobs.   Minimum height 76cms, (2’6”), maximum height 85cms, (2’9”), maximum spread 85cms, (2’9”).

 

Class 107  Novice Working Hunter   Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 148cms (14.2hh), not to have won a total of £200 (or equivalent values) in prize money in any Working Hunter Class, or more than 25 BE points or £200 BSJA  Show-jumping, at home or equivalent abroad before 1st January in the relevant year.   To be shown in any suitable bridle.   Minimum height 76cms, (2’6”), maximum height 92cms, (3’0”), maximum spread 92cms, (3’0”).

 

Class 108  Open Working Hunter   Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 148cms. (14.2 hh).   Grade A Show-jumpers and Advanced Event horses are not eligible to compete in this Class.   Any horse which has qualified as a Grade A Show Jumper or Advanced Event Horse as at 1st January in the current year is not eligible to compete in Working Hunter Classes.   Minimum height 92cms, (3.0”), maximum height 107cms, (3’6”), maximum spread 114cms, (3’9”).

Working Hunter Rules:

 

Exhibitors may walk the course dismounted before their class.

A rider can ride up to two horses in the Jumping Phase, but then must select only one horse to take

forward into the Ride and Conformation Phase.

Horses may be equipped with boots of a plain colour in the Jumping Phase only.  At no other time

can a change of saddlery be permitted.

Any horse taking the wrong course or jumping another fence after completing the course will be

eliminated.

If a horse turns its quarters to a fence or has a complete turn round, or crosses its tracks on approach

to the next fence a refusal will be given.

The fall of horse and or rider anywhere on the course will result in elimination. The rider may not

attempt another fence, but must leave the ring immediately on foot.

Horses displaying continued disobedience, or horses leaving the ring whether mounted or

dismounted will be eliminated.

In the event of equality of marks, the total mark for Phase One will take precedence, followed by the

Manners Mark and then the Conformation Mark. If there is still a tie, then the Judge’s decision is final.

 

Phase 1 - Jumping phase:      40% actual jumping       20% style & Presence whilst jumping

 

Phase 2 - Ride & Conformation:      20% ride      20% conformation

 

Penalties:    10 penalties – knockdown     15 penalties - first refusal     20 penalties – 2nd refusal                                   Elimination – 3rd refusal  Elimination – fall of horse or rider
