RULES & TRACTOR PLOUGHING SCHEDULES

 

ENTRIESAll entries together with the appropriate fees are to be made in writing on a printed form and submitted to the Secretary on   or before Monday 3rd September 2007.

 

PRIZES:  Prizes in Classes 1 to 28 and 96 to 103 should be drawn on the Show Day at the relevant Secretary’s Office.

 

Any prizes not collected on Show day will be forfeited.

 

OBJECTIONS:  Please note all objections must be lodged with the Secretary within one hour of the completion of Judging.

 

THE CYRIL FIRTH MEMORIAL CUP:  will be awarded to the Competitor living within the Society radius gaining most points in the Show.

 

Points will be awarded as follows:

The Judge’s method of scoring is as follows :-

Note: Seedbed, firmness and uniformity cover the whole of the plot, i.e. start furrows, butts and final 19 or 20 furrows.

RULES FOR TRACTOR PLOUGHING CLASSES

 

1. Entry fee per class £3.00

2. Time allowed: Ploughmen to be at the ploughfield at 8.00 am and start ploughing at 9.00 am sharp, 20 minutes   allowed for the opening, 40 minutes to judge the opening, 3 hours to complete the plot after judging is completed (approx. 13.00 hrs).  One penalty point will be deducted for every 5mins taken over time allowed.

3. Each ploughman will be allowed the use of three wads only, with assistance to set them and pick them up. No other assistance will be allowed during the match. He must open and set one ridge, show six or eight top furrows and finish one furrow.

4. All reversible ploughmen to open a single split to be inspected by Stewards before ploughing commences. The competitor then ploughs six furrows from the lower number and then proceeds to the higher number completing his plot to finish the furrow. Alternative bodies must be used at all times.

5. Depth, in all classes, is at the discretion of the landowner and competitors will be advised on the day. Failure to plough the specified depth will be penalised by deduction of points, i.e. 20 points per cm less than the specified depth.

6. No rolling of opening splits is allowed.

7. No handballing allowed. Points will be deducted for any such breach, at the Judge’s discretion.

8. In the event of any dispute, the matter will be referred to the Objections Committee and their decision will be final. The objector shall deposit £20 with the stewards, which will be forwarded to the funds in the event that the objection is deemed frivolous.

9. Any adjustment made by, or at the suggestion of any person other than the competitor, during the course of the competition, will result in immediate disqualification. Exemption for Class 3.

10. NO EXTENSION OF THE TIME ALLOWED. This Rule will be strictly enforced.

11. Any question arising and not provided for in the above Rules will be decided by the Committee, whose decision shall be final and binding.

12. International ploughing match rules will apply for International Qualifying classes (where applicable). Copy of rules available from Secretary on request.

13. Vintage Classes - Conventional Ploughing for Pre 1959 Tractor and Mounted/Trailer Plough.

14. Classic Classes - Conventional Ploughing for Tractors produced without a Q cab (Approx. 1976) and Mounted/Trailer Ploughs to have been in production before 31.12.76.

 

 

TRACTOR PLOUGHING CLASSES

CLASS 1 (OPEN)  For the best work ploughing with any Tractor and a one-way semi-digger reversible plough, 1.5 acres to be ploughed in 3 hours. Minimum depth 20cm. Maximum depth 25cm

 

CLASS 2 (OPEN)  For the best ploughing with any Tractor and a two or more furrow semi-digger plough 0.5 acre to be ploughed in 3 hours.

Reversible Ploughs not eligible. Minimum depth 20cm, Maximum depth 25cm.

 

CLASS 3 (OPEN)  For the best ploughing by any ploughman 25 years and under with any Tractor and a one-way semi-digger reversible plough, 1 acre to be ploughed in 3 hours. Verbal assistance to Novice Ploughmen is permitted and taken into consideration when judged. Minimum depth 20cm. Maximum depth 25cm.

 

CLASS 4 (OPEN)  For the best ploughing with a Vintage Tractor and a Mounted Plough, Minimum depth 15cm.

 

CLASS 5 (OPEN)  For the best ploughing with a Vintage Tractor and Trailer Plough, Minimum depth 15cm.

 

CLASS 6 (OPEN)  For the best ploughing with a Vintage Grey Ferguson Tractor and mounted plough. Minimum depth 15cm.

 

CLASS 7 (OPEN)  For the best ploughing with a Classic Tractor and Classic Plough, Minimum depth 17cm.

 

CLASS 8 (OPEN)  For the best ploughing with a Crawler Tractor over 25 years old, and Trailer Plough.  Depth to be advised.

 

CLASS 9 (OPEN)  Open reversible ploughing class, to qualify for the National ploughing matches; Minimum depth 20cm; Maximum depth 25cm.

THE FOUR SHOWS TROPHY FOR PLOUGHMAN OF THE YEAR

The competition for 2007 will be for Vintage Tractor Ploughing Pre 1959 tractor & trailer plough.

Points will be gained at the three ploughing matches:

 

Collingham Ploughing Match 16th September 2007

Fllntham Ploughing Match 27th September 2007

Southwell Ploughing Match 29th September 2007

 

Points will be allocated to:   1st: 10 points   2nd: 8 points    3rd: 6 points     4th: 4points     5th: 2 points.

 

The Winner will receive the Trophy and £100 to be presented at the 2008 LAMMA Show.

RULES FOR EXHIBITORS AND COMPETITORS

 

1. All horses and cattle, except Hunters, Ponies and Jumpers, must be the bona fide property of the exhibitors and have been in their possession three months previous to the show.

 

2. Animals entered in Class 26 working at the Match are allowed to be on the Showground until 1.15pm.

 

3. Cattle must be led onto the showground unless otherwise stated.

 

4. All animals must be shown in the ring with the breast card number

              provided on the Showground.

 

5. Exhibitors’ tickets must be produced at the gate when bringing in the exhibits, or admittance fee will be charged.

 

6. Labels must be tied to, or placed near each exhibit, in all classes.

 

7. All objections must be in writing to the secretary, on the day of the show, with a deposit of £20 which will be forfeited if, in the opinion of the Committee such objection is frivolous.  The decision of the Committee is final and binding on all parties, from which there shall be no appeal.

 

8. All the Exhibits will be received with the understanding that they are in custody of the Exhibitor.  The Committee will not be responsible for any loss or damage arising from accidents or otherwise.

 

9. All Exhibitors and their servants entering the Showyard will be subject to the Orders Rules and Regulations of the Society and the Officers appointed by the Society.

 

10. The Judges shall have the power to withhold prizes in any class where the quality of the exhibits shall not be sufficient to entitle them to a prize and in all Classes not having more than four entries no third prize will be awarded. Classes with less than three entries may be cancelled.

 

11. Any competitor found to have deliberately entered classes for which they are not eligible will be immediately disqualified.

 

The Judges’ decision in all cases shall be final.
